Following on from Jeremy’s email earlier today we have had further guidance on the Self Employed Income Support Scheme as follows:
- We will not be able to make the claim for you as an agent – this has been confirmed by our Institute today, they have expressed their displeasure about this to HMRC so this may change, but it appears unlikely
- HMRC will calculate the grant from its records and at no stage will you have to supply information about your income – presumably why they are happy for agent’s not to be involved
- The application portal will open to taxpayers on a staged basis between 13 and 18 May, with the portal opening on different days for different taxpayers on a random basis
- HMRC will check the claim and expects to make payments from 25 May 2020 or within six working days of the application being submitted, whichever is the later
So please:
- Check your eligibility as soon as you can here https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/self-employment-support/enter-unique-taxpayer-reference
- If you are eligible ensure have access to your HMRC account with your self-assessment record on. If you do not have access follow the prompt after checking eligibility to get a HMRC account setup
- If it says you are not eligible but you think you are, reach out to us and we can investigate further
- Monitor your emails and your messages on your HMRC account from 13th May for notification of when you can make the claim
Any queries please get in touch.
