As you may be aware the Chancellor has extended the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme for another 4 months to 31st October 2020. The scheme will remain as it is until 31st July 2020, thereafter there will be some changes to help employers integrate employees back into work.

There isn’t much guidance at the moment on this, but you can read the full article here:
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/chancellor-extends-furlough-scheme-until-october

The highlights are as follows:

  • Extension of the scheme as we currently know it until 31st July 2020
  • 01st August 2020 onwards there will be some flexibility for employers to claim furlough grants whilst phasing employees back to work
  • The article suggests the employer will have to contribute in line with the work performed by the employee
  • Further details to follow from the government by the end of May on how it will operate from 01st August 2020

We think this is great news for our clients and hopefully Rishi comes up with a sensible solution for phasing employees back to work – on the whole he has done pretty well so far. We shall see.

We will send more details as we get them but if you have any queries do get in touch with us.
