The last opportunity employers have to furlough staff is 10th June 2020. Employers need to have furloughed staff by this date to qualify for the HMRC grants from 01st July 2020. So please think if you need to take action now.
Key points of the deadline are:
- The scheme will close to anyone who has not been furloughed for 3 weeks by 30th June 2020 (hence the need to furlough by 10th June)
- We understand now that it is employee specific. So if an employee hasn’t been furloughed for 3 weeks by 30th June 2020 you will not be able to claim the grant for that employee from 01st July onwards.
- This will affect eligibly for July onwards where staff will be able to return to work part time and the employers still claim some grant funding from HMRC
Another restriction to be aware of is that for periods starting 01st July 2020 or later, the maximum number of employees you can claim for in any period cannot be higher than the maximum number you have claimed for in a previous period.
As always, if you have any queries please get in touch.
